YOU CAN’T TAKE IT WITH YOU

November 8-16, 2024

Join us for our fall production, You Can’t Take It With You by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, November 8th–16th in the Little Theatre. Martin Vanderhoff and his family live life to its fullest. They make fireworks, play xylophones, practice ballet, and write plays. When the youngest daughter of the family falls in love with her boss’s son, the whole family prepares to hold it together for one night to have the boss’s family over for dinner. You Can’t Take It With You, a zany, idealist comedy, and winner of the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, is about living life to the fullest, learning to accept each other, and doing what makes you happy!

PLAY IN A DAY

December 20-21, 2024

Gunn Theatre alumni and current students come together to write, rehearse, and perform 10-minute plays in a 24-hour period. Authors write their plays overnight, and the following day everyone rehearses until showtime at 7pm that evening. The results are always astonishing and often miraculous!

GUNN THEATRE’S GOT TALENT

January 18, 2025

You’ve seen Gunn Theatre students act, but have you seen them sing, dance, play the fiddle, juggle, tell jokes, and recite poetry? Come discover Gunn Theatre students’ hidden talents at our second annual fundraiser, Gunn Theatre’s Got Talent!  Proceeds from this event will support scholarships so that all eligible students can attend our Gunn Theatre trip in April.

HADESTOWN

March 14-22, 2025

Hadestown is a modern retelling of the Greek Myth of Orpheus and Eurydice by singer-songwriter Anais Mitchell. Orpheus and Eurydice fall in love, but somehow, Eurydice ends up in the underworld, ruled by Hades. Orpheus descends to hell to get her back, charms Hades and Persephone with his music, and is allowed to take his love out of the underworld. Yet, there is one catch: Eurydice must follow Orpheus; he may not look back, and if he does, he will lose her forever. Hermes and the Fates help narrate this beautiful and heartbreaking story. Winner of 8 Tonys, Hadestown is still currently playing on Broadway!  Auditions will take place January 8-10 and are open to all Gunn students.

SPRING FESTIVAL

May 8-10, 2025

Join us for Spring Festival, where the seniors direct, and in some cases write, their own shows! Plays and directors will be announced in early January. Auditions for Spring Festival will take place in early February and are open to all Gunn students.
