Gunn Theatre alumni and current students come together and feverishly rehearse and perform ten-minute plays in one 24 hour period! Play in a Day is a celebration of the Gunn Theatre community past and present, as well as the vital importance of an exquisitely impossible deadline. On the last Friday of the Fall Semester, immediately following the last final exam, all participants assemble in the Studio Theatre, and the madness commences. Authors have been determined beforehand, but at this moment they are given their casts, a theme, and two props which must be incorporated into the play. Authors retreat to their homes, Happy Donuts, or wherever it is they do their magic. They write their play overnight, and the following day everyone rehearses at Gunn until showtime at 7:00pm that evening. The results are always astonishing and often miraculous!
